Part time Flower Farmer Position

Full Bloom Flower Farm and Floral Design is headed into the 12th season of growing. We specialize in a diverse range of floral crops from sunflowers to garden roses in a one acre growing space just outside of downtown Graton on family property. Markets currently include weekly design accounts, two farmstands, florist sales as well as DIY buckets to weddings and full service weddings. Full Bloom is highly diverse in the crops it grows, it’s outlets and is a no-till operation. We are members of the North Bay Flower Collective and local flower community.

Job Summary

The open position is 3-4 days a week Monday-Thursday. The job involves seeding, transplanting, weeding and harvest.  There is a lot of bucket washing, vase washing and moving of heavy buckets of water. This is NOT a floral designer position, however, it would be great to be willing to learn how to make mixed bouquets, simple arrangements and straight bunches. Attention to quality is extremely important. Independent work is expected so being able to be alone and motivated is key. There is an extreme amount of harvest and with time sensitivity. It is a highly fast paced work speed. Flower farming is just like any other farming, but we tend to be in awe more often.

Job Requirements

Applicants must have at least one year of production farm experience, but this is a higher position so we are hoping for at least two years. We are excited to teach and advance flower farming skills, but crew members must possess the basics of plant cultivation, from seeding, to planting to harvest. Applicants should be in excellent physical condition, be able to lift 50lbs, use implements like wheel barrows and shovels and be comfortable performing repetitive tasks bending over or on the ground, or filling arms with heavy flowers. Work starts early in the morning most days at 7am sharp. Easy going attitude and commitment to work days is a must. A strong work ethic and excitement for learning about cut flowers is a must as well. It is insanely beautiful work.

Compensation

Starting wage is $19 an hour for new farmers and up for experienced flower growers.
